Double Half-Arch Sawtooth Greenhouse

Double Half-Arch Sawtooth Greenhouse

The most wind-resistant sawtooth greenhouse in the PONSUNO range, engineered for typhoon-prone and heavy-rainfall regions. Its roof is formed by two distinct curved sections — a short arch near the vertical vent wall and a longer arch extending to the gutter — creating the most aerodynamic profile of any sawtooth type. The blunt sawtooth vent runs vertically along the gutter side and does not reach the ridge, allowing it to remain open during sudden rainstorms without water ingress. Built for large-scale multi-bay commercial operations where structural reliability and year-round ventilation are non-negotiable.

Key Highlights

· Two-radius curved roof (short arch + long arch) — most aerodynamic sawtooth profile, wind resistance up to 150 km/h, engineered for typhoon regions
· Blunt sawtooth vertical vent — stays open during rainstorms without water ingress, enabling uninterrupted summer ventilation
· Dual-gutter drainage per bay + highest snow load rating among sawtooth types (0.30–0.45 kN/m²)
· Hot-dip galvanized steel frame, 275g/m² zinc coating, 15+ year service life — built for large-scale multi-bay commercial operations

Product Overview — Engineered for Extreme Wind, Built for Scale

The PONSUNO Double Half-Arch Sawtooth Greenhouse — also known as a "blunt sawtooth" — represents the most structurally advanced sawtooth design in our range. Developed for coastal and typhoon-prone regions, its roof is not a single curve or a straight slope, but two distinct arched sections: a shorter-radius arch near the vertical vent wall (typically no more than half the span width) and a longer-radius arch extending from the transition point to the gutter. This two-arch profile delivers the best aerodynamic performance of any sawtooth type, minimizing wind uplift and allowing the structure to withstand higher wind speeds than either triangular or single half-arch sawtooth greenhouses.
  • Structure & Materials. The load-bearing frame uses hot-dip galvanized steel with a 275g/m² zinc coating. Columns range from 50mm to 150mm diameter — the upper end of this range is larger than other sawtooth types, reflecting the higher load requirements of typhoon-rated designs. The roof arch is formed by bending steel pipe to a two-radius profile: the short arch section near the vent wall and the long arch section toward the gutter. Each roof bay typically incorporates two gutters — one at the vent-wall base and one at the far end — providing redundant drainage capacity critical in heavy-rainfall regions. All connections are bolted with galvanized hardware; no field welding required.
  • Aerodynamic Performance— The Defining Advantage. The two-arch roof profile is engineered to shed wind rather than catch it. Where a straight-slope triangular sawtooth creates a flat wind-facing surface and a single half-arch presents a uniform curve, the double-arch profile transitions smoothly from the vertical vent wall through the short arch and into the long arch, reducing pressure differentials across the roof surface. This translates directly to lower wind uplift forces on the frame and covering. In independent structural testing, double half-arch sawtooth greenhouses have demonstrated wind resistance up to 150 km/h — significantly higher than triangular or single half-arch designs of equivalent steel weight.
  • Ventilation & Rain ProtectionThe vent is classified as a "blunt sawtooth" — it runs vertically along the gutter side of the bay but its upper edge does not reach the ridge (the short arch occupies the upper portion). While this means the vent area is smaller than a full sawtooth (triangular) design, it offers a critical operational advantage: because the vent opening is vertical and set back from the ridge, rain does not enter the greenhouse even when the vent is fully open during a downpour. In regions with sudden summer thunderstorms, this means the vent can stay open continuously through the hot season — no emergency closing required, no heat buildup inside, no crop stress from interrupted ventilation. This is a feature unique to the blunt sawtooth configuration.
  • Structural & Drainage Performance. The curved two-arch roof distributes snow and rain loads more evenly than any straight-slope design, achieving the highest snow load rating among sawtooth types (typically 0.30–0.45 kN/m²). The dual-gutter system per bay provides drainage capacity well beyond single-gutter designs, essential in regions with intense short-duration rainfall. The combination of aerodynamic roof shape, heavy-gauge frame, and redundant drainage makes this the most reliable sawtooth greenhouse for extreme weather conditions.
  • Trade-Offs.<Two considerations. First, the two-radius arch fabrication is more complex than single-curve or straight members, resulting in higher material and manufacturing cost than other sawtooth types. Second, the blunt sawtooth vent area is smaller than a full sawtooth, so in extremely hot climates with no wind, natural ventilation capacity may be lower than a triangular sawtooth — though the ability to keep the vent open during rain partially offsets this in practice.
  • Covering & Integrated Systems.Roof covering is standard 150–200 micron PE/PO/EVA film (anti-fog, anti-drip, UV-stabilized), with polycarbonate available for greater insulation. Side walls are selectable: film, polycarbonate hollow sheet, color steel sandwich panel, or glass. The structure supports the full range of add-on systems — side ventilation, internal/external shading (30%–85%), heating, drip or spray fertigation, multi-zone environmental control, and supplemental lighting.
Who It's For.Large-scale commercial vegetable and flower growers in coastal or typhoon-prone regions; operations in areas with intense summer thunderstorms where continuous ventilation is critical; high-investment facility agriculture projects requiring maximum structural reliability; and growers planning multi-bay expansions where long-term durability outweighs initial cost.
